GMAIL , ANALYTICS, SEO PLUGINS

In this article I am going to summarise some of the additional elements to be added into a client getting blog to make it more efficient.

1) GoogleMail (GMAIL)

For analytics and some plugins there is a requirement to have an email account set up. My preference is to have a separate email specifically for this to keep things filed away nicely. Additionally, if you want to outsource the blog management in the future a good history is in place.

Sign up for a GMAIL email account >> https://www.google.com/accounts/

Sign into the gmail account in a separate window so that you can see your emails as you install and activate the following plugin..

2) MBP Ping Optimizer (email activation required) http://www.maxblogpress.com/plugins/mpo/

Additional notes: The following list of ping services was originally sourced from Pat Marcello .. I highly recommend connecting to Pat at : http://twitter.com/PatMarcello and visiting http://theseonewsblog.com

3) Create Google Analytics Account for GMAIL email & add your blog

Navigate to :  www.google.com/analytics

Copy the analytics code to a notepad as you will need this later

Thesis Theme users :  Copy code into : THESIS OPTIONS >> Footer Scripts

4) Install the following http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/analytics360/

This plugin is a MailChimp & GoogleAnalytics hybrid , for now simply connect to the analytics. I will cover the Mailchimp element when detailing autoresponders in a later article.

You can now view your Google Analytics from the dashboard of your blog!

5) Create a Feedburner Account :  http://feedburner.google.com for your blog

There are lots of options within the Feedburner account; make sure that the email subscription functionality is activated.

If you are using Thesis then copy the code into :  THESIS OPTIONS >> Set your feed URL it will automatically be connected to the subscribe link in the navigation bar. If you are not using Thesis then refer to the theme instructions.

That’s a good chunk to get started on …. in the NEXT POST I will detail how I want the site to function for a Client Getting Blog.

Until next time
